SHIPSHEWANA — John McEuen & The Circle Band perform at 6:30 p.m. Oct 20 at Blue Gate Music Hall, 175 N. Van Buren St.

McEuen co-founded the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in 1966. The band released its seventh studio album, “Will the Circle Be Unbroken,” in 1972 as a collaboration between the contemporary country band and country stars from earlier decades, including Roy Acuff, “Mother” Maybelle Carter, Doc Watson, Earl Scruggs and many others.

McEuen’s band features Nitty Gritty Dirt Band founding member Les Thompson and Danny Knicely. The Stranded Hoboes, with whom McEuen recorded the song "Bluegrass Banjo Boy," will make a cameo appearance.

The program includes songs from “Will The Circle Be Unbroken,” other Nitty Gritty Dirt Band hits, contemporary originals written by McEuen and other storied offerings from the bluegrass/country songbook.

The show also features archival photos and video from McEuen’s time in the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

McEuen is in his 15th year of hosting his “Acoustic Traveler” show on Sirius/XM and is prominently featured in the Ken Burns documentary “Country Music,” which has aired on PBS.

He also recently released a coffee table book, “Will the Circle Be Unbroken — The Making of a Landmark Album,” showcasing 150 rare and unseen photos from the writing and recording sessions to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the album’s release.

Tickets are $40.
