It's hot, hot, hot. And despite closing all the windows, shutting the blinds and lying on the cold kitchen floor with the freezer door open (okay, not quite), we still find ourselves dripping with sweat after the slightest of movements
We have never longed for integrated air-con so much - but John Lewis has a solution to keep us cooler without spending a small fortune, and it is the Meaco MeacoFan 1056 Air Circulator.
Why we rate it
The Meaco MeacoFan 1056 Air Circulator is a lightweight, and portable fan, perfect for those balmy (boiling) summer evenings when you'd usually struggle to sleep.
This design has 12 fan speeds, and can move air from 60° up and and 80° sideways, so you can encourage cool air flow throughout the room, or even directly blast it on your face when working from home should you wish.
It has a lights on and off mode, ideal for night-time, plus a noise level of 20dB, giving it the Quiet Mark stamp of approval - because there is nothing worse than the whirring of a fan disturbing your snooze.
There's even a lovely fan with eco mode too, which according to reviews "is almost silent".
The high tech fan also comes with a remote so you can change settings without getting up, and there's a timer setting so you don't have to worry about switching it off at night.
It's portable, and comes with a faux- leather handle to make transportation a breeze.
It retails for £99 from John Lewis & Partners, but shoppers seemed happy to pay the price to have an efficient fan on their hands, or deskside this summer.
What the reviews say
The Meaco MeacoFan 1056 Air Circulator has garnered over 150 five star reviews, and lots of other positive feedback from shoppers. Here's what they have to say:
"Wow it feels great and it's completely silent (at least at level 2, which it's running on). According to its temperature monitor, it's 25 degrees in here, which I believe, and the fan really helps. There are 12 speeds and the manual tells you which speed/level to use with which temperatures. The remote control works out of the box — I can control the lateral and vertical sweeps. Handy having the strap to carry it from room to room. Looking forward to a comfortable sleep at last."
"Thought I would prepare this year and after a lot of searching came across this fan. Was worried about the price but I really suffer from the heat so went for it. I was not disappointed, rather I was impressed. Better than I hoped. It does really cool you down and I can have it on all night as it is very quiet."
"Best fan I have ever bought. Very quiet, and does amazing job circulating air."
"This is so much more powerful than a tower fan and is so so quiet. Having it on speed one is more than enough for me . You can't hear anything so you sleep like a log. A brilliant product."
"I had no idea a fan could be so quiet and so effective. It's quiet enough to have on while sleeping and has lots of settings and movement options."
