John Legend Sings ‘Happy’ and Metallica Tackles Rihanna’s ‘Diamonds’ in Extended ‘Carpool Karaoke’ Trailer: Watch

How many superstars can you cram into a car? And how many of those cars can you squeeze into 2-and-a-half minute clip? Quite a lot, it turns out.

The spin-and-sing Carpool Karaoke series is revving with a new, extended trailer featuring more songs, gags, and a couple of surprises.

In one shot, John Legend dons Pharrell’s “Grammy hat” and hits “Happy” in the wrong key, as Alicia Keys laughs uncontrollably in the passenger seat. “Old white women think I’m Pharrell sometimes,” he quips. In another, Chelsea Handler and Blake Shelton get plastered in a bar as they belt out Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer.”

And veteran metal masters Metallica roll with it as they tackle Rihanna’s “Diamonds” and stop by a supermarket where they enlist the help of delicatessen staff to blast “Enter Sandman.”

The Late Late Show spin-off, coming soon to Apple Music, will feature 16 celebrity pairings. Other stars seen sharing a ride (and a song) include James Corden with Will Smith, John Cena and Shaquille O’Neal, and Ariana Grande with Seth MacFarlane.
