ST. LOUIS – After a three-decade hiatus, live concerts are returning to The Muny.

On Wednesday, The Muny announced in a press release that the venue will host its first live concert in over 30 years, featuring none other than John Legend, the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Awards [EGOT]-winning, critically acclaimed, multiplatinum musician.

The show, titled “John Legend: A Night of Songs and Stories With the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra,” will take place at 8 p.m. on September 7. In collaboration with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, The Muny revives a tradition with this special event.

“John Legend: A Night of Songs and Stories With the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra” will perform some of Legend’s greatest hits, unexpected stories from his life and career, and selections from his most recent release, LEGEND. This concert marks Legend’s first-ever performance with the SLSO.

Legend is a highly acclaimed musician and one of only nineteen people to achieve EGOT status. He has won 12 Grammy Awards, an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, a Tony, and three Emmys. Legend has released nine successful albums, including Get Lifted (2004), Love in the Future (2013), and LEGEND (2022).

Legend starred as Jesus in NBC’s Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert in 2018 and joined The Voice as a coach in 2019, continuing to return for multiple seasons.

Tickets for “John Legend: A Night of Songs and Stories With the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra” are priced from $75 to $300 and will go on sale at 9 a.m. on May 20 at metrotix.com and muny.org/johnlegend. Muny and SLSO subscribers can access a presale from 9 a.m. on May 17 to 9 p.m. on May 19 CT.

MetroTix is the only authorized vendor of Muny tickets. The Muny will also offer tickets for its famous “free seats,” with details to be announced.

The last concert at The Muny was by the Moody Blues and Kansas in 1991. Other artists who have performed on The Muny stage include Whitney Houston, Patti LaBelle, Sting, Barry Manilow, Bob Dylan, the Allman Brothers, and Hank Williams Jr.
