John Legend and Chrissy Teigen surprise people by caroling at their homes

On the NBC special A Legendary Christmas With John and Chrissy, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen gave us a taste of what it would be like to spend Christmas with them. Though how cute and funny the two are together wasn’t a surprise, some lucky families were certainly surprised.

Legend and Teigen recruited Jane Lynch, Darren Criss, Meghan Trainor and Raphael Saadiq to go door-to-door caroling, and no one in any of the unsuspecting families was upset about it. One man exclaimed, “John Legend? You’re singing in my front yard!” When they had finished their performances, the crew spent a little more time spreading Christmas cheer by getting to know their fans and taking pictures with them.

One girl yelped, “Meghan Trainor! Oh my god, you’re my favorite singer!” Trainor hugged the girl and told her, “Don’t say that in front of John!” The girl then told Legend, “La La Land is literally my favorite movie ever,” and Teigen wasted no time hilariously roasting her husband, saying, “OK, he had a small role, first of all.”

If you’re thinking the whole thing was staged, it wasn’t. Both Legend and Teigen were live-tweeting during the special, with Legend sharing:

The one-hour special combined performances by Legend from his 2018 holiday album, A Legendary Christmas, and fun cameos by the couple’s celebrity friends, including Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Zach Galifianakis and Stevie Wonder. It was funny, relevant, super-entertaining, and totally worth catching. Somehow, Legend and Teigen made us love them even more than we already do.

A Legendary Christmas With John and Chrissy aired Nov. 28 at 10 p.m. on NBC.
