You hoisted a boombox with him when he was lovestruck Lloyd Dobler, revisited high school with him when he was hitman Martin Q. Blank, and now you can travel with him as he becomes Craig Schwartz and ventures into the mind of John Malkovich.

Movie buffs can take a cinematic journey with John Cusack — literally, since he'll be in the same room — at a screening of the 1999 surrealist comedy-drama "Being John Malkovich" on Oct. 15 at Kemba Live, 405 Neil Ave.

Being John Cusack: Nine greatest Cusack characters

Tickets for the event, which range from $49.50 to $199.50, go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at axs.com. A VIP meet-and-greet package includes the best seats in the house, plus a post-show photo opportunity with Cusack.

In "Being John Malkovich," Cusack is an out-of-work puppeteer who takes a file clerk job, where he discovers a secret door behind a file cabinet leading to a portal into the actor's mind. Though it won none of the three Academy Awards for which it was nominated, the film remains critically acclaimed.

Cusack's appearance is part of a tour taking him across North America from September through November.

The prolific 57-year-old actor rose to stardom in such 1980s coming-of-age movies as "Sixteen Candles," "The Sure Thing," "Better Off Dead" and "Say Anything."

A bit of a chameleon, he also has appeared in indie films including "The Grifters" and "Bullets Over Broadway," and as a leading man in films like "Grosse Pointe Blank," "High Fidelity" and "Must Love Dogs." He also played tormented genius Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys in the 2014 biopic "Love & Mercy."

As the Writers Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild are on strike, Cusack has two movies waiting in the wings: “My Only Sunshine,” the story of two ruthless bank robbers plotting a heist to fund their divorce, and "Fog of War,” centering on injured American pilot Gene (Cusack) and his fiancée, an Office of Strategic Services agent, who visit her extended family. The plot thickens when the OSS recruits Gene to spy on his bride-to-be's relatives.
