Go ahead, cue the "Jaws" music.

Shark Week 2024 is coming up − which is equal parts coverage of the ocean's No. 1 predator as well as a pop culture phenomenon. Florida, aka the "shark bite capital of the world," gets a lot of mention during Shark Week on Discovery Channel.

Who better to host it than pop culture phenom (and Florida resident) John Cena? Here's what we know.

Who will host Shark Week 2024 on Discovery Channel?

John Cena, actor, producer and former pro wrestler, has been tapped to host Shark Week 2024 on the Discovery Channel and streaming.

What is Shark Week?

Discovery Channel’s annual celebration and investigation of shark habits and behaviors − affectionately known as Shark Week − kicks off Sunday, July 7, 2024. The weeklong event includes the next chapter of the hit show "Belly of the Beast Part 2," a terrifying and fascinating look at a great white shark feeding frenzy. Other Shark Week 2024 shows include "Monster Hammerhead: Species X," about a potential new hammerhead species, and "Great White Serial Killer: Sea of Blood," which follows a great white terrorizing a local village.

Who is John Cena? What movies has he been in?

Before he forayed into Hollywood, John Cena was a WWE superstar. Wrestling promoter and executive Vince McMahon once called John Cena the Babe Ruth of the WWE.

John Cena's hosting chops include "SNL" or "Saturday Night Live," the ESPYs, the "Today" show, "The Ellen Degeneres Show," "Are You Smarter than a Fifth-grader?" and the 2017 and 2018 Kids Choice Awards.

The actor, who reportedly has an home in Tampa, Florida, also is a No. 1 New York Times best-selling author for "Elbow Grease" picture books, a series inspired by the lessons he learned about hard work, perseverance and teamwork from growing up with four brothers, a news release states.

Cena went viral after his “nude” appearance in the 2024 Academy Awards show. The presenter for best costume design did a bit with host Jimmy Kimmel about the importance of costumes.
