John Bolton likens Trump to Elizabeth Warren following 'incoherent' remarks on military

Former National Security Advisor John Bolton appeared on The Story With Martha MacCallum Monday, where he slammed remarks that President Trump made about military leaders earlier in the day. Following reports last week that Trump had disparaged fallen American soldiers, the president held a wide-ranging, meandering press conference where he took a shot at those leading the military.

“I’m not saying the military’s in love with me,” Trump said. “The soldiers are. The top people in the Pentagon probably aren’t because they want to do nothing but fight wars so that all of those wonderful companies that make the bombs and make the planes and make everything else stay happy.”

“Now, with respect to what people at the Pentagon think, and I think this is important,” Bolton said in response, “Apart from being incoherent, Elizabeth Warren really couldn’t have said it better.”

When the report about Trump disparaging fallen soldiers came out, Bolton, a Trump detractor, came to the president’s defense saying he’d never heard Trump do so. But, in Bolton’s view, it’s not out of the realm of possibility.

“Obviously, I can’t prove the negative that he never said those things,” Bolton said. “The president has a habit of disparaging people. He ends up denigrating almost everybody he comes in contact with whose last name is not Trump.”

The Story With Martha MacCallum airs weeknights at 7 p.m. on Fox News Channel.
