Actress Joey King, who once played Gypsy Rose Blanchard on Hulu’s The Act, has spoken up for the first time since Gypsy was released from prison.

King says she is very happy for Gypsy, the Munchausen by proxy victim who was granted parole in 2023 after she killed her abusive mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, in 2015.

Since her release, Gypsy has made several high-profile media appearances, including on Good Morning America and The View. Her story has been the subject of multiple documentaries, as well as The Act, a scripted series that aired in 2019, featuring King and Patricia Arquette, who played Dee Dee.

King, who was reached while out on a hike with her mother, says she doesn’t currently have plans to meet Gypsy, but left the door open.
