Joe Jonas Shouts Out Fellow Parents Before Performing 'Little Bird' amid Custody Battle with Sophie Turner

The Jonas Brothers member previously told PEOPLE that "Little Bird" is a "beautiful song to share with other parents out there"

Joe Jonas took a moment to speak to the parents and parents-to-be among his fans.

On Thursday, the Jonas Brothers member, 34, took the stage at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as part of the band’s Five Albums. One Night. The World Tour. Before the group performed “Little Bird,” a song that each brother has dedicated to their kids, Jonas took a special moment to send some love to parents.

“This next one is all about being a parent,” Jonas said after a slight pause. He also wished a heartfelt “good luck” to those hoping to become parents in the future.

Joe's brothers Nick and Kevin each gave Joe a hug before singing their first song, “Celebrate.” 

Jonas’ shout-out comes amid his custody battle with his estranged wife Sophie Turner. On Thursday, the Game of Thrones alum, 27, sued Jonas for alleged wrongful retention of the couple's two kids: Willa, 3, and a daughter, identified in a previous court filing as D., 14 months, in documents obtained by PEOPLE.

The complaint also alleged that Jonas is preventing their daughters from being reunited with Turner by withholding their passports. "On September 19, 2023, the Father's Florida attorney confirmed that the Father will not return the passports to the Mother and will not consent for the children to return home to England," the documents claim.

"Based on the Father's express statements that he will not return the children to England and will not return the children's passports to the Mother, on September 20, 2023, the Mother has submitted her Hague Convention Application for Return to the Central Authority for England & Wales seeking the return of the children to England."

Jonas responded to Turner’s claims, saying she was being “misleading.” A rep for the musician said in a statement to PEOPLE that “Joe initiated divorce proceedings in Florida, as Florida is the appropriate jurisdiction for the case."

The statement further stated that both Jonas and Turner recently “had a cordial meeting this past Sunday in New York, when Sophie came to New York to be with the kids.” Jonas was under the impression that “they had reached an understanding that they would work together towards an amicable co-parenting setup."

Earlier this month, Jonas filed for divorce from Turner after four years of marriage. In documents obtained by PEOPLE, the filing claimed that "the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken."

Amid the ongoing custody and divorce battle, while Jonas was performing, Turner was spotted grabbing dinner with a friend at Hotel Barrière Fouquet's New York on Thursday and has resumed work on her upcoming ITVX series Joan.

On Tuesday, Turner was pictured with Jonas’ ex Taylor Swift while enjoying a night out on the town. The pair, who were arm and arm, dined together at Via Carota before they visited Temple Bar on Lafayette Street after dining at a restaurant.

Last month, Jonas opened up to PEOPLE about the meaning of their track “Little Bird,” saying it’s a "beautiful song to share with other parents out there."

"It's something that everyone, whether it's your own parent or parent figure that you have in your life, you can think of that person," he said. "It's really exciting to know going into this, even just creatively, how we can set the stage for that song in particular."
