Joe Jonas, Daniel Craig and Others Donated to Hairstylist Johnnie Sapong After 'Near-Death Experience' with Brain Tumor

The creative opened up about his experience with a life-threatening tumor in a new interview published on Friday

Joe Jonas is showing his love for hairstylist Johnnie Sapong.

In a new interview with lifestyle and culture magazine Mr Feelgood, published on Friday, Sapong reflected on a "near-death experience" with a brain tumor earlier this year and the resulting gestures of kindness from celebrity friends, family and others that made him feel "overwhelmed."

The same day, Jonas reposted the new article on his Instagram Story with a heart emoji. Under Mr Feelgood's Instagram post on the new interview, the Jonas Brother again shared his support for Sapong.

"Love you Johnnie ❤️," he wrote in the comments section of the post.

In the article, Sapong said that he had been "absolutely overwhelmed" after a huge number of people extended their support for him — which included the Jonas Brother — with contributions to a GoFundMe after he had to undergo surgery to remove the tumor in June.

Donations on the fundraising page are listed from the names Daniel Craig and Jonas (who is listed as Joseph Jonas), as well as contributions listed under Milla Jovovich, Samantha Morton and Charlize Theron.

The GoFundMe itself was spearheaded by Sapong's son, social media influencer Zion, who along with the rest of Sapong's family have helped to raise over $330,000 in total so far for medical expenses.

Sapong was first diagnosed with the brain tumor back in June, when he noticed a "pulsating banging in my head." After heading to the hospital, he said he found out that he had a pituitary tumor that had burst and had to be removed.

"The awareness of the severity was live or die. And I’m here thinking, 'I know what my choice is.' I’m looking at my wife and my son, and I can hear them. Zion’s practically turned into me, and me into my dad," he told Mr Feelgood of his father, who died a year earlier.

Following surgery that "managed to remove all the mass" Sapong told the outlet that he now has "one more MRI at the end of September and that gives me the okay or not," adding that neurosurgeons are "really happy" with where he is at.

"I’ve learned that the beauty and the miracle of life is for living, being grateful, giving thanks; in terms of having a beautiful, loving, caring wife, and having these wonderful boys who I see are also about caring and sharing," Sapong said in the Mr Feelgood interview. "And then seeing the same thing with my brothers and my mother. The way that this has affected everybody."

On his Instagram, Sapong has regularly posted details of his work with A-listers, including Gwendoline Christie, Taylor Russell and several posts of his work with Craig.

Back in June, E! News reported that the creative had to undergo surgery, with donations and comments of support coming in from A-listers.

"@sapongjohnnie sending all the healing energy and love love love," Tracee Ellis Ross wrote on Instagram on June 12, per E. "Please support Johnnie and his family."

In the Friday interview, Sapong also explained to Mr Feelgood that his experiences have helped him look to the future.

"I think that my dad passing away last year and this happening to me almost at the same time the following year, it’s all connected," he said. "I believe that. So this is for me to now utilize. The baton had been passed over. He’d given me his shoes. What am I going to do with it? I know now."
