Some lucky sap scored one of the best of the modern bunch, Joe Dirt’s famous 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, shelling out a whopping $330,000 for the beat-up old muscle car. That might sound crazy to your average person, but to a certain group of enthusiasts it makes all the sense in the world.

NBA star Luka Doncic drives quite the rig to work.

For some car collectors, there’s no greater thrill than owning a vehicle made famous on the big screen. That might mean buying a DeLorean and trying to make a Back to the Future clone car, or for higher rollers buying the actual vehicles used to make movies.

Those who don’t know much about this famous Mopar are laughing about anyone paying hundreds of thousands for a supposed rust bucket. What they obviously don’t know is it was painted and modified to look rusty and falling apart, which is part of the charm of ownership.

They probably also don’t realize it’s not a real Daytona. Instead, it’s the product of movie magic. Built on a restored Charger XP29, the nose cone and wing were added to make it appear like a real Daytona just like the ones NASCAR banned back in the day.

Most people wouldn’t pay much for a clone Daytona, but this one has something others don’t: fame. How many people can say they own the same ride featured in one of the funniest movies made in the last 30 years? That right there is quite the bragging right.

Already the neighbors are getting jealous. Some guy posted a YouTube video claiming he saw the car parked in his neighborhood, stopped, spoke with the new owner and took a ton of photos as evidence. While someone might admire a supercar sitting in your driveway, the excitement and interest in a ride like this is just next level.
