Joe Budden Believes Logic’s “1-800-273-8255” Track Was “Pandering”

Joe Budden thinks Logic was “pandering” when he dropped “1-800-273-8255” to raise suicide awareness.

During an interview with The Pivot PodcastRyan Clark asked him about Logic’s smash hit. The former NFL player wondered how Budden, who has been open about his mental health struggles, felt about the song and the Maryland emcee. Joe voiced his disdain for the rapper and song with a smirk. He asserted that Logic wasn’t being genuine when he made that track and believes he was “full of sh*t.”

“Logic is full of sh*t. I don’t believe him,” Budden began. “You can’t know and you can’t prove it. But Logic is full of sh*t. Logic put out a song with mental health as the phone number – 1-800-whatever-the-f**k-that-sh*t-was. Pandering bullsh*t.”

“Everything about Logic is [pandering]. So there’s really no way to ever tell what’s truthful and what’s not truthful. And since he said [he experienced suicidal thoughts] I try to take him off my list of people to speak about because I do have a heart. But I do think he’s full of sh*t.”

Logic’s 2017 single featured Alessia Cara and Khalid and peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. The hit even garnered Grammy Award nominations for Song of the Year and Best Music Video.

Earlier this year, the ex-rapper pleaded with Logic to quit rapping. In March, Budden lashed out at Logic and criticized his music following a cover of Ice Cube’s “It Was a Good Day.”

“Logic, I hate to continue to make a career at your expense. I don’t hate it, actually. I’m glad that I have a little list of you– one day I’m gonna grow up,” he began. “Logic, I beg of you, I’m pleading with you, please join me in retirement. Never step near a recording device again! Throw your phone in the ocean! Be allergic to microphones! Promise your fans nothing!

“Don’t go to the studio ever again! You are the worst, yo! You are really, really bad! And then when we think he can’t get any worse, you have the bright idea of doing an Ice Cube flip.”
