Joe Biden's son, Hunter, reportedly splits from late brother, Beau's, widow

Hunter and Hallie Biden have reportedly called it quits.

Page Six reports that the couple, who confirmed their relationship in March 2017, has broken up after nearly two years of dating. They started seeing one another after Hallie's husband and Hunter's brother, Beau, tragically died in 2015 at the age of 46 after a battle with brain cancer.

Joe Biden's now 49-year-old son released a statement in March 2017 explaining his romance with Hallie, now 44.

"Hallie and I are incredibly lucky to have found the love and support we have for each other in such a difficult time, and that’s been obvious to the people who love us most," Hunter said at the time. "We’ve been so lucky to have family and friends who have supported us every step of the way."

Joe and Jill Biden also released a statement at the time in support of the unexpected romance.

"We are all lucky that Hunter and Hallie found each other as they were putting their lives together again after such sadness," they said. "They have mine and Jill’s full and complete support and we are happy for them."

Though it's unclear why Hallie and Hunter have split, a source told Page Six that the split is "amicable."

Hunter was previously married to wife, Kathleen, for 22 years. They separated in October 2015 and finalized their divorce in April 2017, one month after he publicly confirmed his relationship with his former sister-in-law. Sources told Page Six that Kathleen is "thriving and looking better than ever and back on the dating scene."

News of the breakup comes just a few months after Hunter reflected on his "complicated" divorce from Kathleen in an interview with Vanity Fair.

"The important aspect of my complicated divorce (like all divorces) and an equally complicated life, marked by the tragic loss of my mother, sister and brother, is this: My father has been a constant source of love and strength in my life," he said.

When Page Six reached out to Hallie Biden for comment on the claims, she had no comment.
