Former vice president Joe Biden promised to continue to fight against cancer after his time in the White House ended. Now, he’s taking his fight to the Austin Convention Center to speak at SXSW.

Biden will speak about his initiative White House Cancer Moonshot on Sunday, Mar. 12 at 3:30 p.m. According to the National Cancer Institute, the initiative “aims to make more therapies available to more patients, while also improving our ability to prevent cancer and detect it at an early stage.” His cancer crusade has been fervent, especially with 2015 the passing of his son Beau, who lost his fight to brain cancer.

“We’re excited to have Vice President Biden address the creative innovators and entrepreneurs that attend SXSW,” said Chief Programming Officer Hugh Forrest. “His commitment and leadership is crucial at a time when the smartest minds from the worlds of technology and healthcare are working together to create groundbreaking new solutions in the battle to end cancer.”

According to Deadline, Biden will reportedly discuss “innovative solutions” to finding a cure for cancer and his plans to keep fighting for those who are battling the disease. His conversation will be part of the “Connect to End Cancer” series.

“Connect to End Cancer provides education, exposure and potential development support to entrepreneurs and encourage collaboration among innovators, industry executives, venture capitalists, celebrities, philanthropists and SXSW attendees who share a commitment to Making Cancer History.”
