Joe Alwyn Was ‘in Love With’ Taylor Swift and ‘Doesn’t Talk Poorly About Her’ Now

Taylor Swift has found love twice since her breakup from Joe Alwyn a year ago, first dating Matty Healy briefly and now Travis Kelce. Alwyn has “moved on” too, a source told People yesterday, and has nothing bad to say about Swift, even after she released The Tortured Poets Department, which featured songs about their breakup.

Alwyn “certainly doesn’t talk poorly about her,” the source explained. “He was in love with her, and it just didn’t work out.”

Generally, Alwyn is “doing well” and is “focused on work.” The source revealed that the British actor is seeing new people, too. “He’s dating and happy,” they said. “He’s a great guy and not into drama in any way.”

He also still isn’t into fame, they added: “Joe loves acting, but can’t stand the attention that comes with it. He’s not comfortable in the spotlight.”

A source told People on April 19 that Alwyn didn’t talk about Swift during their six-year relationship because he wanted their romance to remain “his own personal story.”

That source added that when Alwyn started dating Swift, it “took a lot of people by surprise, but he wasn’t showing off in some way.”

While the two were dating, Alwyn spoke honestly about why he wouldn’t discuss his relationship with Swift. He told ELLE UK in April 2022, “It’s not really [because I] want to be guarded and private, it’s more a response to something else. We live in a culture that is so increasingly intrusive… The more you give—and frankly, even if you don’t give it—something will be taken.”
