Joe Alaskey Dies: Latter-Day Voice Of Bugs Bunny & Daffy Duck During Long Career Was 63
Joe Alaskey, a successor to Mel Blanc who for years voiced iconic cartoon characters
such as the modern Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Sylvester, Tweety Bird and others from the classic Warner Bros cartoons, has died. The news was confirmed by his family on Alaskey’s Facebook page. He was 63.
Alaskey’s prolific decades-long career included voicing Grandpa Lou Pickles on Rugrats, inheriting the role after David Doyle’s death in 1997. He also voiced the character again in the Rugrats spinoff series All Grown Up!, along with all three films. He also voiced Stinkie in Casper as well as that film’s 1996 animated spinoff, The Spooktacular New Adventures of Casper. He also was the voice of President Nixon in 1994 feature Forrest Gump.
Alaskey also had been narrating the Investigation Discovery series Murder Comes to Town. The cable net said today that he recorded the latest episode just last week, which will air as its season finale on March 14. Here’s a clip of Alaskey recording an episode for the series in 2015.
His other numerous credits include Who Framed Roger Rabbit and TV series Avatar: The Last Airbender, Loonatics Unleashed and Duck Dodgers, for which he won an Emmy. He also recently completed work on the feature Dark Seduction, according to IMDb.
