Jodie Turner-Smith and Joshua Jackson are parents of one.

Jackson and Turner-Smith tied the knot in August 2019 and welcomed their first child, a daughter, in April 2020. (Their daughter’s name was revealed to be Juno Rose Diana Jackson in divorce documents filed in October 2023.)

After four years of marriage, the Queen & Slim actress filed for divorce from the Fatal Attraction actor in Los Angeles Superior Court in October 2023, PEOPLE confirmed. Turner-Smith has requested 50/50 shared custody in her filing, a source confirmed to PEOPLE.

Though Turner-Smith and Jackson have kept their daughter out of the spotlight, they have often spoken warmly about her, and parenting in general, in interviews.

"I feel that to be fulfilled is being my best self for my child," Turner-Smith told PEOPLE in March 2023 "And I try to involve her in my life, not let work be this thing that exists outside of her, but that she also gets to be a part of. And so that she sees me being a working mother and being fulfilled and wanting to mother at the same time."

The couple first revealed their pregnancy news when they stepped out together in Los Angeles in January 2020, where the actress showed off her bump in a form-fitting dress.

Two months later, on International Women's Day, Turner-Smith announced that they would be having a daughter.

In April 2020, reps for Jackson and Turner-Smith confirmed the arrival of their daughter to PEOPLE. "Both mother and baby are happy and healthy," their reps told PEOPLE at the time.

Jodie Turner-Smith and Joshua Jackson have shielded her from the spotlight

Since the arrival of their daughter, Jackson and Turner-Smith have kept their little one out of the public eye by not sharing her face on social media, however, they have shared sweet glimpses of their family life.

In September 2020, Jackson talked about his and Turner-Smith's "whirlwind year" since becoming parents in a birthday tribute to the actress. "Happy Birthday my beautiful wife," he wrote at the time. "Thank you for choosing to share your light with me. Thank you for walking this path of life as my wife. Thank you for bringing our daughter into the world. This last year has been the happiest whirlwind of my life. I can’t wait to see what all the years to come bring our way."

In November 2021, Turner-Smith gave a sweet peek at their daughter as she shared a Thanksgiving day post. Alongside a photo of Jackson and their daughter's feet, she wrote, "I'm most thankful for you."

She’s “hyper-verbal”

While speaking with PEOPLE at The Barbara Berlanti Heroes Gala Benefitting F--- Cancer in October 2022, Jackson gushed about his then-2-year-old, describing her personality at the time.

"The work [of being a parent] is constant because she's constantly a new version of herself," Jackson explained. "So I think [you have to be] open to the fact that you have to rediscover your child all the time.

"But the greatest piece of it right now is she's so hyper-verbal, and she's very, very opinionated. And I'm just enjoying the ability to be in that conversation with her," he said of his little one.

Jackson said, however, that his daughter has never been one to shy away from making her feelings known. "The thing is, the opinions were there before the words were. There was never any doubt that she knew what she wanted, but now she's able to fully express what she wants," he said.

She has changed how Joshua Jackson approaches work and life

During an interview with MR PORTER magazine published in July 2021, Jackson discussed fatherhood, noting how it altered his own perspective in "every possible way."

"It's 100 percent changed how I approach my work and my life. That has been made so clear to me in this past year. For me to feel good about what I'm doing day to day, my family has to be the central focus," he explained.

Jackson also told the magazine he was looking forward to seeing "the world through my daughter's eyes."

"There are plenty of things left for me to do, but now the thing that gets me excited is experiencing the world through my daughter's eyes," he said. "I can't wait to take her scuba diving. I can't wait to take her skiing. I can't wait to read a great book with her."

She has also taught Jodie Turner-Smith many lessons

In an interview with ELLE UK published in March 2023, Turner-Smith candidly spoke about raising a biracial daughter, noting that her daughter will have a "completely different experience" than either of her parents as she is both Black and White.

"She is going to have a completely different experience in the world than I did, because I have given birth to a mixed-race girl," Turner-Smith told the outlet. "It's interesting because I had a lot of resistance to becoming a mother and, throughout my life, I always said if I were to have children, I wanted to have Black, Black babies so that I could affirm them as children with the love that I felt I needed to have been affirmed with by the outside world."

However, when Turner-Smith fell in love with Jackson, her feelings shifted. "To decide not to have a child with somebody you love, just because they're white, was insane to me. But, at the same time, I did have this mini pause, where I was like, 'She's going to be walking through the world not only having an experience that I did not have, but looking like people that, in a way, I'd always felt a little bit tormented by,' " Turner-Smith acknowledged.

She added that her daughter has helped her “heal” her feelings around colorism. "Now that I've got this little, tiny, light-skinned boss, I feel like it's the universe teaching me lessons," she continued. "I've been given a daughter who looks this way to heal my own conversations around colourism."

Jodie and Joshua have worked hard to keep her grounded

During her interview with ELLE UK, Turner-Smith also discussed raising a “nepo baby” and how she and Jackson have worked hard to keep their daughter grounded despite having famous parents.

“It’s a big job to prepare children for the world,” she explained. “The best thing that we can do is let them touch the earth and be grounded and real – as real as one can be when you have the level of privilege that obviously my child has. I’m not acting like she’s not a nepo baby. But I worked damn hard to have a nepo baby!”

She usually travels with her mom for work

In an interview with Bustle published in December 2022, Turner-Smith candidly opened up about balancing her career and motherhood.

Though she noted that "historically, women have always been asked to choose between being great mothers and great at their careers," she said that Jackson "has always tried to maintain that I would always have all the support that I needed so that I could do both."

"Right now my daughter still comes with me most of the time, except when I go on trips that are under a week. That has been working for us so far," she explained. "Obviously it's challenging because I don't want to create a space in which my husband can't see her when he's working."
