Jodie Foster is widely revered as one of Hollywood’s most fearless performers, but it sounds like she’d feel safer locked in a room with Hannibal Lecter than she would sitting beside the ladies of The View.

After being welcomed to Friday’s episode by moderator Joy Behar, Foster replied, “This is my first! I’ve never done a View. I was too scared.” When asked if she was serious, Foster admitted, “Yeah, I was a little scared.”

Sunny Hostin attempted to ease Foster’s concerns by saying, “It’s all legend. We’re all very nice,” to which Foster shot back with a playful “OK, we’ll see.”

Foster (finally) appeared on The View to promote the fourth season of True Detective, titled Night Country. The latest installment in HBO’s crime anthology series kicked off on Jan. 14, with new episodes airing Sundays.

Set in Ennis, Alaska, the new season of True Detective stars Foster as Detective Liz Danvers, who must track down eight men missing from a research station. To solve the case, Liz and her partner Evangeline Navarro (Kali Reis) “will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves, and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice.”

Of course, this wasn’t Foster’s only memorable interview during her True Detective press tour. She recently shared with The Tonight Show‘s Jimmy Fallon that she was up for the role of the OG Star Wars trilogy’s Princess Leia, which ultimately went to the late, great Carrie Fisher. As Foster explains, she couldn’t do it because she “had a conflict” with a Disney movie. Watch that reveal below:
