Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara are all smiles in Los Angeles!

On Saturday, Phoenix, 48, and Rooney, 38, were seen hosting a special screening of the 2022 documentary film The Smell of Money at the Laemmle Monica Film Center in Santa Monica, Calif. The engaged couple, both seen wearing black outfits at the screening, spoke to the audience and sat among the film's producers and directors, including Jamie Berger, Shawn Bannon, Travon Free, Michelle Cho and David Lowery, among others, at the event.

The film center shared a number of photos of Phoenix and Rooney together at the event on Instagram on Sunday, writing in a caption: "And of course a special thank you to our hosts, Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara, their support for the film has been incredible."

The Smell of Money follows a North Carolina community's years-long legal battle with a major pork company located in the area, "where much of the world’s bacon and barbecue is made," according to an official synopsis for the film. The community's residents fight to "reclaim their rights to clean air, pure water, and a life free from the stench of s—" within the film.

Rooney's older sister, Kate Mara, who was not present at the screening, is credited as an executive producer on the film. Kate, 40, has shared a number of Instagram posts about the movie in the past two years, including one March 2022 post in which she wrote the movie covers "people of Eastern North Carolina whose lives have been impacted by living next to hog farms for decades."

Phoenix and Rooney, who privately got engaged in 2019 and welcomed their first child, a son named River in 2020, first met when they costarred in the 2013 film Her. The pair later reunited onscreen in 2016's Mary Magdalene, and made their first public appearance as a couple at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.

"She's the only girl I ever looked up on the internet," Phoenix once said of Rooney, while noting that he initially thought his future wife didn't like him when they first met. "We were just friends, e-mail friends. I'd never done that. Never looked up a girl online."

The couple's son River is named after Phoenix's late brother, who died in 1993. Rooney herself confirmed River's name when she mentioned her son in a Mother's Day 2021 campaign for Farm Sanctuary, after Russian filmmaker Victor Kossakovsky, with whom Phoenix worked on the documentary Gunda, told press of the couple's baby during the 2020 Zurich Film Festival.

The couple also have one project slated for release in 2024, Polaris, in which they will costar, per IMDb. Rooney last appeared in the Academy Award-winning 2022 film Women Talking.

The Smell of Money is playing at the Laemmle Monica Film Center through Oct. 19, and at New York City's Angelika Village East movie theater from Oct. 20 - 26.
