Joanna Gaines is sharing one of her favorite family traditions as her youngest gets to experience it.

Sharing an Instagram Reel on Thursday, the mom of five, 45, posted scenes from son Crew's father-son train trip with husband Chip Gaines.

"When each one of our boys turned five, Chip would take them on a train ride to San Antonio, TX," she explained.

Photos show the rest of the family — Emmie, 13, Duke, 15, Ella, 17, and Drake, 18 — seeing the pair off at their local train station as they embarked on the fun outing, which began and ended with an hours-long train ride for the two.

"I love this tradition so much. The older boys still remember all the stops and the places they visited and the fun memories that were made. So hard to believe how fast time has flown by. ❤️🚂," Joanna shared in the caption.

In December, the Magnolia mogul uploaded a hilarious Instagram video in which she attempted to complete a living room obstacle course created by her son Crew.

The clip began with a view of Crew walking on top of three stools. After he set foot on top of a brown chair, he used the living room table to get to the sofa. A pillow bridge connected him to the other side of the table, which he walked on top of to arrive at the end of the course.

Once it was the reality TV personality's turn to take on the course, she counted the steps she needed to take and let out a big smile after completing it. She added in the caption, "Made it through Crew's morning obstacle challenge in record time (in my age bracket) 😅."

During a conversation with PEOPLE in November, the mom of five opened up about the importance of protecting her children's passions.

"Obviously at some point it'd be so fun to have one or two of our kids work with us, but that's definitely not what we're saying out loud to them. Chip is really good at saying, 'You need your own identity. When you're finished with college, go do some stuff on your own. Learn some stuff. And then if you want to come back years later and teach us, we're here,' " she explained.

She told PEOPLE that having kids of different age ranges gives her and her husband, 49, "perspective."

"The greatest gift of having a kid go off to college and having a 5-year-old is that perspective. It's not here forever. We don't want to waste these moments," she said.
