Joan Collins and Lily Collins have suffered a case of mistaken identity!

In her new memoir, Behind the Shoulder Pads, Joan, 90, recalled how her and Lily's mail would often get mixed up by their mailman when they were neighbors in Los Angeles.

The two stars eventually ran into one another at the 2019 Met Gala, where they laughed about their shared last name and their mailman "constantly" delivering mail to the wrong person, Joan detailed in her memoir.

"Lily Collins and I laughed about the days we lived in the same building in L.A., where the postman constantly misdirected our mail to the wrong Collins," wrote the Dynasty star and screen legend.

Their last names aren't the only similar thing going for them. The theme of the Met Gala that year was "camp" and the two actresses opted for remarkably similar flamboyant white ensembles.

Joan channeled her famous Dynasty alter ego, Alexis Colby, with huge shoulder pads in a custom Valentino design. Meanwhile the Emily in Paris star, now 34, recreated Priscilla Presley’s bouffant wedding mini dress in Giambattista Valli Haute Couture.

Both women accessorized their looks with glittering headpieces.

In her new biography, Joan also revealed the less glamorous side of the annual fashion fundraiser hosted by Vogue's Anna Wintour.

"It was a bit like standing in line at the [U.K. supermarket] Waitrose checkout on a lunchtime rush, except we were surrounded by the likes of Kim [Kardashian] and Kanye West and Harry Styles in a black chiffon embroidered blouse with a huge pussycat bow,” she wrote of queueing to appear on the red carpet.

The star also shared the other famous faces she encountered on the evening, including her run-in with Jennifer Lopez, where they shared L.A. restaurant tips, and congratulating tennis champion Serena Williams on becoming a mom.

Joan — who is married to actor Percy Gibson — also remembered seeing Bette Midler dancing to legendary singer Cher alongside Julianne Moore, Gwyneth Paltrow and Katie Holmes.

Reflecting on the spectacle, Joan wrote, "What an experience it was. I loved my first Met Ball, and I would certainly go again in a heartbeat – although at $30,000 a seat, I’ll wait to be invited!"
