NFL star JJ Watt wasn't expecting his Super Bowl 2024 game day hair to go viral — but it's sparked a flurry of reactions from fans.

The 34-year-old retired NFL pro turned broadcaster traded in his usual sleek coif for a spiky, gelled-up style that gave total boyband vibes.

"Ever change your hair and wonder if anyone will notice? They notice," the former defensive end shared on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Taking it a step further, some fans couldn't help but draw comparisons between Watt's new look and the iconic spiked-up, frosted-tips hairstyle famously sported by celebrity chef and TV personality Guy Fieri. Now, Fieri himself has entered the chat.

"I, for one, thought it was a good look @JJWatt," Fieri responded to Watt's tweet, adding his own seal of approval to Watt's unexpected hair transformation.

Besides Fieri, other X users chimed in to share their thoughts on Watt's new look. Some remarked that the TV analyst's hair debut was perfectly timed with Usher's millennial-loved halftime performance.

One person wrote, "Thought it was for the Usher show, like a throwback to middle school dances."

"It’s all good, man. Between your hair and Usher headlining, I felt like I was back in 8th grade. #Nostalgia," another user commented on Watt's tweet. "Was sitting next to my fiancé and she asked if someone on the Backstreet Boys was on the halftime show," someone else replied.

Watt wasn't the only celebrity at the Super Bowl debuting a new hairdo. Lizzo, 35, also ensured she stood out, sporting a look that paid homage to both football teams playing. She rocked a red mullet, complete with shaggy bangs and long layers in the back. It's likely that her hairstyle is a wig, however, given the artist is a total hair chameleon.

Though Lizzo didn’t explicitly confirm which team she was rooting for, her presence seemed more geared towards cheering on halftime performer Usher. In a post on Instagram, she referred to the Super Bowl as the "Usher concert," hinting at her excitement for his halftime performance.
