Jimmy Kimmel and Wayne Newton feud over the Las Vegas Raiders

On Jimmy Kimmel Live, ESPN’s Katie Nolan showed Kimmel a video of Las Vegas Wayne Newton talking trash. Last week on her show, Always Late With Katie Nolan on ESPN+, she thought she’d give the Oakland Raiders some advice on how to connect with fans when the team moves to Vegas. One of those ideas was to get a big name celebrity to back them, so Newton and Kimmel, who’s from Vegas, seemed like natural choices. Nolan said her team reached out to Newton not expecting to hear back, so they were shocked when he responded with a video from his home. Newton is already involved with Vegas’ NHL team, the Golden Knights, and based on his enthusiasm in the video, he might get the Raiders gig too.“I should be the celebrity ambassador for the Las Vegas Raiders,” Newton said. “Jimmy (expletive) Kimmel, are you kidding me?” He later added, “I am Mr. Las Vegas, baby. And when you think of Vegas, you think of Wayne (expletive) Newton. Go Raiders!”

“Is that not the best thing you’ve ever seen?” Nolan asked. “Well, no, that’s not the best thing I’ve ever seen,” Kimmel replied.Given how the Raiders are doing this year (2-8), whomever comes out on top might be their only fan by the time they get to Vegas. But the gauntlet had been thrown.“The Raiders would be better off with a Fig Newton as their celebrity spokesperson. How you like that, Wayne?” Kimmel said, adding, “And since when is Wayne newton living in Liberace’s mausoleum?”
