The host also noted that he was asked to "host the show again next year, which I wasn’t planning to do but now I might."

It’s been over a month since Jimmy Kimmel poked fun at Donald Trump by reading his social media post during the Oscars and the former president still isn’t over it.

On Wednesday, Trump blasted the “stupid” late-night host once again and repeatedly confused him for Al Pacino in a lengthy and meandering rant published on truthsocial.com. So, naturally, Kimmel decided that there was no better response than to fact check Trump’s post in his opening monologue that evening.

“Donald Trump is in the first week of a criminal trial. [He’s] the first president to be on trial for a criminal offense, for paying hush money to a pornographic film star. He was in court all day Monday, all day yesterday. Today, he had a day off and how did he spend that?” Kimmel asked the audience. “Ranta Claus got up bright and early to post 165 venomous words about yours truly.”

In his post, Trump wrote, “Stupid Jimmy Kimmel, who still hasn’t recovered from his horrendous performance and big ratings drop as Host of The Academy Awards, especially when he showed he suffered from TDS, commonly known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, to the entire World by reading on air my TRUTH about how bad a job he was doing that night, right before he stumbled through announcing the biggest award of all, ‘Picture of the Year.’”

He continued, “It was a CLASSIC CHOKE, one of the biggest ever in show business, and to top it off, he forgot to say the famous and mandatory line, ‘AND THE WINNER IS.’ Instead he stammered around as he opened the envelope. Supposedly his wife, and even management, begged him not to do it, ‘DON’T READ HIS TRUTH, JIMMY, PLEASE DON’T DO THIS,’ they said. He was made to look like a FOOL, which he is, and at the same time go down in Television History as the WORST HOST EVER OF THE ONCE VAUNTED ACADEMY AWARDS!”

Kimmel took a moment to marvel over how Trump spelling ‘vaunted’ correctly before stating that “literally everything else” in his post “is not just wrong, but maybe we should be worried about him wrong. Like, maybe we should take the keys away from Grandpa wrong.”

He corrected Trump’s assertion that the Academy Awards suffered a ratings drop after he hosted, noting that they actually “went up this year,” before addressing Trump's repeated pattern of mistaking him for Pacino. During the Oscars, Pacino, who actually presented the Best Picture category, raised eyebrows when he skipped past announcing its nominees and simply opened the envelope to reveal that Oppenheimer had won.

“I didn’t present the award for Best Picture. I was the host. The host doesn’t present awards. The presenters present the awards, and the person who presented the award was Al Pacino, not me,” Kimmel clarified. “We are different people. Now don’t get me wrong, I wish I was Al Pacino, I’m just not.”

He also revealed that the decision to read Trump's post during the live Oscars broadcast was a lot less dramatic than the president suggested in his post. “They showed me what he posted. I looked at it, I said, ‘Oh, I’m gonna read this.’ My wife said, ‘Oh no.’ I said, ‘Oh yes,’ and that was that. That was the whole story,” he said. Then, referencing Will Smith's infamous Oscars slap, Kimmel added, “And by the way, keep my wife’s name out of your effing mouth.”

And while Trump might consider him to be "the WORST HOST EVER," Kimmel said that ABC didn't share the same viewpoint. “That must be why they asked me to host the show again next year, which I wasn’t planning to do but now I might,” he said. “Maybe you can watch on the TV in the rec room at Riker’s with all the guys.”

Kimmel also expressed amazement that his joke continues to bother Trump to this day. “This man, who was our president, is on trial, he has 34 criminal charges against him, he’s still mad about the Oscars! This was five weeks ago! My parents don’t even care anymore," he said. "The only person still talking about this joke is him. It really must have got to him."

He added that Trump "must not get how much I love this" inciting this reaction from him either. "It doesn’t even add up!" he exclaimed. "Either Feeble Knievel doesn’t know that Al Pacino and I are different guys, or he didn’t actually watch the Oscars he claims to have hated so much."
