Jimmy Kimmel Enlists Audience to Imitate North Korean Cheerleaders (Video)

Outside of the competition itself, one of the early talking points of the Pyeongchang Olympics has been the North Korean synchronized cheerleading squad that features 200 women dressed in red tracksuits.

On his show Monday, Jimmy Kimmel decided to replicate the viral success of the team he called the real “stars” of the Games thus far. After showing his audience a snippet of the North Koreans’ moves, Kimmel told his audience that he thought the cheers were “catchy” and that it looked “like fun.”

“We should try — we should see if we can do it here with our studio audience,” Kimmel said.

And that they did.

Kimmel divided the audience into two sections, and after showing them a clip of the North Korean squad, he had them clapping and swaying along to the cheers.

“I feel like a dictator,” Kimmel quipped. “Hey, Kim Jong Un. I hope you’re watching. I hope you remember this before you send a missile our way. We’re in Los Angeles, all right?”
