Jimmy Kimmel Is Back to Making Jokes at Sean Hannity's Expense
The "truce" between late-night comedian Jimmy Kimmel and Fox News personality Sean Hannity is apparently over.
Kimmel on Monday used his Jimmy Kimmel Live! monologue to return to the subject of "my pal, Sean Hannity," amid news that the Fox News host turned out to be the mysterious third client of attorney Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump's longtime legal counsel.
Hannity has denied being a "client" of Cohen's or giving him any money, and said that he merely sought the attorney's advice on occasion, but that none of those occasions involved a third party, referring to two settlements Cohen made in connection with the alleged affairs of Trump and another client.
"Isn't that interesting that he would need advice from Michael Cohen?" Kimmel riffed on Monday. "That sounds normal, he has a lawyer who he doesn't pay. I'm thinking of hiring Michael Cohen as my lawyer, because he only has three clients. Apparently he works for free."
"I don't know what kind of legal advice doesn't involve a third party, unless, maybe, Sean Hannity was thinking about suing himself?" he continued.
It isn't the first time Kimmel has gone after Hannity. The two crossed swords on social media after Kimmel mocked First Lady Melania Trump's accent. What followed was a profane tit-for-tat battle that seemed to end with a decidedly pointed apology from Kimmel that concluded, "I am hopeful that Sean Hannity will learn from this too and continue his newly-found advocacy for women, immigrants and First Ladies and that he will triumph in his heroic battle against sexual harassment and perversion."
Kimmel's Monday monologue ended with one last riff on both Trump and Hannity.
"If this is the biggest witch hunt in history as they say it is, we're running out of spots on the broomstick," he said. "It's getting very full. We may have to add an extension to this thing."
