Jimmy Fallon Debuts Nintendo Switch Version of ‘Zelda’ on ‘Tonight Show’

On The Tonight Show, the president of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aimé, surprised Jimmy Fallon with a not-yet-released Nintendo Switch.

“You know that Mario is our most iconic character,” Fils-Aimé said. “And for the very first time, we’re bringing Mario to mobile devices, to the iPad and to the iPhones, with Super Mario Run. And you’re gonna get to play it.”

That wasn’t the only surprise. Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of such legendary games as Donkey Kong, Legend of Zelda, and Mario Bros., was in the audience to watch Fallon play. While playing Super Mario Run, Fallon succeeded in finding a special coin — and to say Fallon was excited would be an understatement.

“Yeah! You know what I’m talking about! That’s what I’m talking about,” Fallon exclaimed.

And later, for the first time on television, Fallon played the newest version of Zelda on the Nintendo Switch.

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on NBC.
