Jimmy Fallon Laps Late-Night Competition In Post-Rio Games Return To NBC Schedule
NBC’s Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, returning after a Rio Olympics-fueled hiatus, doubled ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live in the demo, and more than doubled CBS’s Late Show with Stephen Colbert in the daypart’s key demographic.
Fallon’s show featured Robert De Niro, Kimmel booked Hillary Clinton, and Colbert snagged an “interview” with Olympian Ryan Lochte. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, Fallon clocked 0.8/5 in the 18-49 age bracket, Kimmel a 0.4/2 and Colbert a 0.3/2.
In Nielsen’s 56 metered markets, Fallon logged an overnight household rating of 2.3/6; to Colbert’s 1.9/5, and Kimmel’s 1.8/5.
Following Fallon, returning Seth Meyers tied Kimmel’s demo showing in the 25 markets with local people meters (0.4), and doubled his timeslot competitor/Late Late Show host James Corden (0.2) on CBS.
