Country singer Jimmie Allen and his wife Alexis are giving things another shot following the birth of their son Cohen.

The musician — who recently countersued two women lodging sexual assault and abuse lawsuits against him — and Alexis welcomed their third child together on Sept. 27, more than five months after they both filed for divorce.

Now, a rep for Allen, 38, tells PEOPLE that the split “was never fully seen through legally,” and that he and Alexis, 27, are a couple once more.

“They decided to work on things together and are still together,” the rep says.

The “Freedom Was a Highway” singer and Alexis — who also share daughters Zara James, 2 this month, and Naomi Bettie, 3½ — were married in June 2020. They announced their separation in April at the same time they announced they were expecting baby No. 3, and Allen filed for divorce on April 28.

Alexis followed suit with her own filing two hours later, with both citing irreconcilable differences, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE. Allen later filed a motion to consolidate both filings into one case.

News of the couple’s divorce proceedings broke the same day Allen was sued by his former manager for assault and sexual abuse. The woman, who filed anonymously, accused the star of raping her, groping her breasts, pushing his erect penis against her in public, masturbating in front of her at a hotel and forcing his fingers into her vagina in 2021 — all of which he has denied.

Weeks after that, a second woman sued Allen for sexual assault, claiming he filmed their sexual encounter without consent and continued to have unprotected sex with her after she’d revoked her previously given consent. PEOPLE confirmed that she later filed a police report with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.

The Grammy-nominated Allen has denied all allegations against him, and in July filed two counterclaims accusing the first woman of defamation and the second of illegally stealing his cell phone.

In August, the second woman, identified only as Jane Doe 2, filed a motion to dismiss Allen's countersuit, arguing that he does not have a legal claim against her.

In a statement to PEOPLE, a member of Allen’s legal team says they look forward to “clearing Jimmie’s name” in court.

“We will leave it to the court to determine if taking something without permission is conversion (or stealing)—a lesson that most of us learned when we were young,” the statement reads. “The facts here don’t support what Jane Doe 2 is claiming, and we look forward to the legal process moving forward and clearing Jimmie’s name.”

In May, Allen shared a public apology to Alexis, writing on social media that he was sorry “for humiliating her with my affair. I’m embarrassed that my choices have brought shame on her. That’s something that she did not deserve at all.”

In July, the singer told PEOPLE that he and his wife were working on their future as a team.

“The divorce case is still pending, as my wife and I are working to resolve things together as a family,” he said.

At the time, Allen also clarified a statement he’d made earlier that day, in which he said that he had waited several months before publicly responding to the pair of lawsuits against him because he “wanted to fix my family first.”

“What I meant by ‘fixing my family first,’ was making sure their mental health and stability are OK in light of these hurtful, false allegations,” he says. “I took some time off to be with my wife, kids and friends, to ensure everyone was OK.”
