Less than a week after Jimmie Allen gave a pop-up performance in lower Delaware came word he'll bring his talents upstate next month to a celebrity basketball fundraiser to support Wilmington youth.

The Milton country superstar is in a new Instagram video promoting the 19th annual Duffy's Hope Celebrity Game at the Chase Fieldhouse in Wilmington on Aug. 5. The singer says he's playing in the event.

The fundraiser is intended to support free programming for youth and families, according to Duffy Hope's Eventbrite page for the game. This includes helping youth receive free programming and assistance with college, career and other skills.

In addition to the celebrity game, the event also features Duffy's Hope High School All Star Game, raffles, games, prizes, food and entertainment. 

Allen has been spotted out in public recently, after two lawsuits were filed against him (in May and June), each by women who claim the singer sexually assaulted them. He subsequentally dropped from his record label.

The singer hasn't been charged with any crimes.

"I'll be there, getting my hoop on, representing country music, representing Delaware, the 302," Allen says in the promo video, which Duffy's Hope posted on Independence Day. "Get your tickets now and I'll see you there. Peace!!"

How much are tickets for Duffy's Hope?

General admission tickets are $25. Children ages 3 or older are required to have a ticket.

VIP tickets are $100 and include one reserved floor seat and a pre-event photo op with participating celebrities. Guests must arrive no later than 5:45 p.m. to ensure a meet-and-greet opportunity. For more information, click here.

Allen will hoop with celebrities including rapper and actress Kash Doll (Arkeisha Knight) and Demetrius "Lil Meech" Flenory Jr. , both from the popular Starz crime drama "BMF."

Another entertainer tapped for the game is rapper and actor Young Dylan (Dylan Gilmer), star of "Tyler Perry's Young Dylan" on Nickelodeon.

Young Dylan has strong Delaware ties: He's worked with Wilmington teen DJ Klive. This month he announced his "Scream Tour '23," launching in August, which includes Dover teen DJ Sophia Rocks.

Several entertainers played the celebrity game over the years including R&B singer Ray J, little brother to singer Brandy. Ray J is an old flame of celebrity Kim Kardashian; rapper and actor Yazz the Greatest from the hit Fox series "Empire," and Tristan Wilds from the classic HBO show "The Wire." Other players included "Wild 'N Out" star D.C. Young Fly and Diggy Simmons, rapper and son of Rev Run (Joseph Simmons) from the hip-hop group Run-DMC.

What is Duffy's Hope?

Duffy’s Hope was founded in 1998 by Wilmington native Allen “Duffy” Samuels, who was a star basketball player at Glasgow High School. In his pro career, he played overseas in Spain, Poland and Ukraine.

Duffy's Hope is a nonprofit supporting Wilmington's at-risk youth through 10 core components, including mentorship, financial literacy and educational enrichment trips, having served more than 6,500 youth in the area.
