Jim Jarmusch’s Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai Criterion Release Announced

Jim Jarmusch’s 1999 film Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai is getting a new Criterion Collection release later this year. Starring Forest Whitaker, the RZA-scored movie follows a mafia hitman who abides by his interpretation of a strict moral code. The new digital transfer includes new conversations and interviews with Jarmusch and the cast, plus a new video essay on RZA’s score. It’s out November 17.

Ghost Dog was RZA’s first film score, a pursuit that later included the scores to Kill Bill: Volume I, Kill Bill: Volume II, and Blade: Trinity. Jarmusch and RZA have more recently joined forces in The Dead Don’t Die, which was released in 2019.
