Jill Biden defends husband Joe Biden: ‘You cannot say he’s a racist'

On Cuomo Prime Time Monday night, Jill Biden defended her husband, Joe Biden, while discussing the recent Democratic debate. During the debate, Senator Kamala Harris called Joe out for his work with segregationist politicians in the 70’s and early 80’s. Jill took exception to Kamala alluding to Joe being complicit of bigotry. Kamala started her attack during the second Democatractic debate by saying, “I do not believe you are a racist...but…” Jill said, “I mean, the one thing you cannot say about Joe is that he's a racist. He got into politics because of his commitment to civil rights.” Jill went on to say “I think the American people know Joe Biden, they know his values, they know what he stands for, and they didn't buy it.” While Jill claimed voters didn’t “buy it,” polls showed a dramatic upswing for Kamala and downturn for Joe following the debate. The Bidens are not too worried about the temporary slump in poll numbers. They even referred to the campaign as a marathon. “The polls are coming back up,” said Jill, adding, “and I think the more people get to know Joe, the higher the polls will get.”
