JFK’s Grandson Jack Schlossberg Reveals the 2 Things He’s Giving Up for Lent — and Resolves to Finish a Novel

In a post shared to X on Monday, 31-year-old Schlossberg reminded his followers "LENT is coming"

Jack Schlossberg, the only grandson of former President John F. Kennedy, is giving up two things for Lent — and adding another.

In a post shared to X on Monday, the often-playful 31-year-old wrote, "LENT is coming," adding: "I’m giving up sugar and anger :) and I’m going to read a novel. My first novel !!"

Schlossberg, son of U.S. ambassador to Australia Caroline Kennedy, is one of millions who will partake in the Catholic tradition of Lent, which begins on Wednesday and will see those who participate intentionally abstain from something (typically, by eliminating an item like meat or sugar from their diet) until Holy Thursday on March 28.

And while it's unclear which novel he plans to start on, Schlossberg has had no shortage of reading material in recent years — he passed the New York State Bar Exam on his first try in 2023, telling PEOPLE shortly after, "It feels great."

His mother passed the New York bar exam in 1989. His uncle, John F. Kennedy Jr., famously failed the New York bar exam twice before ultimately passing on his third try in 1990.

A 2015 Yale University graduate, Schlossberg entered Harvard Law School in the fall of 2017 and Harvard Business School in the fall of 2018. He graduated in 2022 with both a Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration.

Schlossberg has in recent months made headlines for his heated criticism of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s conspiracy-filled presidential run, which he called "an embarrassment" in an Instagram post.

Speaking on the Today show last September, Schlossberg said he was "glad" he spoke up.

"I’m very glad I did it. I stand by what I said in my video," Schlossberg said. "I love my family and I’m very proud of our legacy of public service, especially my mom. We’re lucky to have her as U.S. ambassador to Australia. But I think Joe Biden is a fantastic president. On everything from the economy, health care, climate change, civil rights — his record speaks for itself."
