Jewish Celebs Call Out Kanye West for Anti-Semitic Tweet: ‘Your Words Hurt and Incite Violence’

Kanye West is receiving harsh blowback after a series of anti-Semitic posts and words this week. After threatening to go “death con 3 on Jewish people,” celebrities like Sarah Silverman, Jamie Lee Curtis and many others are speaking out.

In a post to Twitter this weekend, West wrote “I’m a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE The funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti Semitic because black people are actually Jew also You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda.”

The tweet has since been deleted by Twitter, citing West’s violation of their policies, and came after another anti-Semitic post on Instagram got him restricted on that platform as well. Comedian Sarah Silverman posted her outrage on Sunday, criticizing others for not also speaking out.

“Kanye threatened the Jews yesterday on twitter and it’s not even trending,” Silverman tweeted. “Why do mostly only Jews speak up against Jewish hate? The silence is so loud.”

Meanwhile, Jamie Lee Curtis and Michael Rapaport also spoke out against the rapper, with Rapaport mocking West’s typo by captioning a response video with “I’m up going DEFCON 6 Million.”

“The holiest day in Judaism was last week. Words matter,” Curtis tweeted. “A threat to Jewish people ended once in a genocide. Your words hurt and incite violence. You are a father. Please stop.”

But more than just celebrities spoke out. Many criticized the official GOP Twitter account, which tweeted “Kanye. Elon. Trump,” earlier this week.

“Kanye West threatened to go ‘death con 3’ on Jews. Will the GOP take down this tweet in response or continue to elevate him to the same level of veneration as Trump?” MSNBC legal contributor Joyce Vance wrote. “Anti-Semitism has always been quietly tolerated. Here it is, out in the open.”
