"At this point, I’m considering having one closet for all three of us ladies," the singer and fashion mogul tells PEOPLE

Jessica Simpson’s household is filled with fashionistas.

The musician and fashion designer says her daughters Maxwell "Maxi" Drew, 11, and Birdie Mae, 4, have already explored their love of fashion by dipping into their mom’s wardrobe.

"I have to do a weekly girls closet inventory to check for missing items! They even know my hiding spots somehow,” the multi-hyphenate, 43, tells PEOPLE while chatting about her new Jessica Simpson Collection drop.

And because the star often finds herself searching for her favorite pieces — whether that be a hoodie, a pair of socks or her hoop earrings — borrowed by her mini mes, she admits that she’s considered “having one closet for all three of us ladies.”

The one thing Simpson doesn’t have in common with her kids is organization.

“Maxwell and Birdie are WAY more organized than I will ever be in that department,” admits Simpson. “I have a coat closet, but that is about it for how I seasonally manage my wardrobe.”

That comes in handy for a “seasonal mashup” dresser like Simpson.

“I am the type that will wear a slip dress with fishnets, boots, and an oversized turtleneck sweater or shorts with a tight, thigh high boot, tee and blazer,” she says of how her outfit of the day depends on her mood rather than the weather outside.

It’s a philosophy that meshes well with her maximalist tendencies. “I don’t like my purchases past or present out of sight or mind. I even go to my storage units and grab stuff I know I want by memory. I am an organized chaos closet hoarder!” she admits.

Simpson often gravitates towards her archives, some of which were styled with her brand’s new clothing, shoes and jewelry for the fall campaign shot on a movie set in a California desert.

She tells PEOPLE that she paired a Willie Nelson tee she received while shooting Dukes of Hazzard “many moons ago” with her newest fringe suede shorts, which she named “the Callie.” It all came together to create what she called a “a southern retro festival-ready look."
