Jessica Simpson Slid into Madison LeCroy's DMs to Praise Her Halloween Costume

The 'Southern Charm' star shared her reaction to Simpson's response over the weekend at BravoCon 2023

Southern Charm’s Madison LeCroy got the stamp of approval from the inspiration behind her Halloween costume!

On Halloween, the Bravo TV personality recreated Jessica Simpson's famous look from the MTV series, Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica, where she’s seen asking ex-husband, Nick Lachey about their tuna fish dinner.

During BravoCon, LeCroy told Entertainment Tonight that Simpson slid into her Instagram direct messages to talk about the Halloween post. LeCroy told ET, “I was like, 'OK, this is amazing. I feel like I made it.'”

Ahead of sending a private message to LeCroy, Simpson also commented on the reality star’s Instagram. “Best with miracle whip, apples and chopped pickles 😋," Simpson wrote.

On Wednesday, LeCroy shared on her Instagram Story how excited she was to catch Simpson’s attention.

“When I tell you that I just screamed and scared the living s--- out of Brett,” LeCroy said, per Us Weekly. “He was like, ‘What?’ [And] I was like, ‘Jessica Simpson is in my f---ing messages!’ I’ve made it … and I feel a collab coming. Belk, Dillard’s, call us. I mean, I think it needs to happen.”

LeCroy and her husband, Brett Randle, recreated the famous scene by copying the former couple’s outfits from 20 years ago. LeCroy is seen holding a bowl and fork while wearing a baggy white T-shirt and black pants, while Randle sports the University of North Carolina muscle tank, blue basketball shorts and temporary tattoos to replicate Lachey’s tattoos.

"Chicken of the sea #newlyweds," LeCroy captioned the Instagram post.

In addition to LeCroy’s recreation, she also shared a screenshot of the infamous moment as well as a clip from the 2003 episode.

Lachey and Simpson are seen talking amongst themselves about their dinner when Simpson asks her then-husband, “Is this chicken that I have or is this fish? I know it’s tuna, but it says ‘Chicken by the Sea.’”

“Is that stupid? What?” Simpson continued. “Don’t make fun of me right now. I am not in the mood.”

“You act like you’ve never had tuna before," Lachey replied.

The clip concluded with Simpson noting, “I’ve had tuna fish sandwiches and stuff like this.”

LeCroy and Randle are preparing to celebrate their first wedding anniversary on Nov. 16. The two first married in a Charleston, South Carolina courthouse and celebrated once more three days later in an intimate celebration at the Chablé Maroma in Riviera Maya, Mexico.
