The star famously confused tuna and chicken while eating a bowl of Chicken of the Sea on her reality show 'Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica'

Yes, people, she knows it's tuna.

Over two decades after Jessica Simpson questioned “Is this chicken that I have, or is this fish?” while eating a bowl of Chicken of the Sea, the actress, singer and fashion designer, 43, stars in a new commercial for the company, which PEOPLE can exclusively reveal. The spot is part of their "It's the One For Me" campaign.

Acting alongside daughter Maxwell "Maxi" Drew, 11, Simpson is seen in the opening of the ad sitting on a couch with her oldest child.

"Mom, what are you eating in the packet," Maxwell asks her mother.

"It's called Chicken of the Sea, but it's not really chicken — it's tuna," she responds. "So don't get confused by it."

As Maxwell questions, "Who would get confused by that?" Simpson slyly replies, "No one. Not your Mom," before letting out an awkward laugh.

Maxwell then stares at her mom with a concerned expression, before Simpson looks away, clearly recalling her infamous flub from an episode of her reality show, Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica,

Simpson confused tuna and chicken while eating a bowl of Chicken of the Sea on the 2003 premiere of her reality series, which chronicled her life with her now-ex Nick Lachey.

“I know it’s tuna, but it says chicken by the sea,” the "With You" songstress said in the episode. “Is that stupid? What is it called — chicken by the sea or in the sea?”

Lachey, 50, then looked at Simpson with confusion, telling her, “Chicken of the Sea is the brand. You know, ’cause a lot of people eat tuna, just like a lot of people eat chicken. Chicken of the Sea.”

"Oh, I understand now. I read it wrong," she added at the time.

Simpson is now married to husband Eric Johnson and the two share Maxwell and two other kids, son Ace Knute, 10, and daughter Birdie Mae, 4.

Along with the new ad, Chicken of the Sea is hosting a “It’s the One For Me” sweepstakes, which will give consumers the chance to win $10,000.

“It seemed perfectly fitting to partner with our friend Jessica Simpson to share how Chicken of the Sea fits into her busy life as a mom, artist and entrepreneur," Griffin Raasch, director of marketing at Chicken of the Sea, said in a statement. "Her iconic ‘is it chicken or is it fish?’ moment is part of the fabric of pop culture, and we had a lot of fun working with Jessica to give it a new spin in 2024."

Now through the end of February, people can visit ChickenoftheSea.com/theoneforme to show how Chicken of the Sea is the one for them. All you need to do is submit an original photo or video enjoying a product from the brand.

“Following the launch of our new tuna and salmon packets, we’re excited to inspire new ways for Chicken of the Sea fans to incorporate lean, flavorful protein into their everyday lives and even reward one lucky fan," Raasch added.
