Jessica Lange, 74, Makes Rare Red Carpet Appearance in Show-Stopping Gown at 2024 Oscars

The two-time Academy Award winner is one of the evening's presenters

Jessica Lange made a rare red carpet appearance at the 2024 Oscars.

The two-time Academy Award winner looked striking in a shimmering black gown styled by Negar Ali-Kline. For her accessories, she wore a Martin Katz sapphire and diamond hexagon ring set in platinum, cushion and half moon diamond earrings microset in white gold and a stack of white diamond rings

Lange, 74, is set to take the stage as one of the evening's presenters. Other stars who will be handing out awards Sunday night include Mahershala Ali, Nicolas Cage, Jamie Lee Curtis, Brendan Fraser,  Matthew McConaughey, Lupita Nyong’o, Ke Huy Quan, Michelle Yeoh, Zendaya, Chris Hemsworth, Dwayne Johnson and Regina King.

Although Lange doesn't walk as many red carpets as she used to, the Hollywood icon is as busy as ever. The actress is currently guest starring on FX's Feud: Capote vs. the Swans, and in April, she'll return to Broadway in Mother Play opposite Jim Parsons.

Lange is certainly no stranger to the Oscars stage, either. Not only did she win best actress in 1995 for Blue Sky and best supporting actress in 1983 for Tootsie, she was also nominated for her work in Francis, Country, Sweet Dreams and Music Box. Add in a prolific career in television, which includes her Emmy-winning roles on American Horror Story, as well as her thriving career on the stage, and Lange's impact on the industry becomes clear.

In February, the Grey Gardens actress opened up to Vulture about her vibrant career and what attracts her to certain roles.

"It’s always been kind of an immediate emotional reaction to the part," she explained of how she decides which projects to take on. "Often in the reading of the script, I would come to a moment where I could actually imagine playing that."

Lange also revealed one of her favorite films of the year is best picture nominee Anatomy of a Fall. "You look at some of the best films of the past year ... my favorite was Anatomy of a Fall," she said. "How often do we get to see a film like that, where the ambiguity of things is never sewn up?"

The 96th Academy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, are airing live on ABC Sunday, March 10, from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California.
