Jessica Chastain, Chelsea Clinton, Shari Redstone, Gayle King Among Honorees at Variety’s Power of Women: New York

Variety has chosen to honor Jessica Chastain, Chelsea Clinton, Gayle King, Blake Lively, Audra McDonald, and Shari Redstone at its annual Power of Women: New York luncheon on April 21. The event at Cipriani Midtown will be hosted by Vanessa Bayer (“Saturday Night Live”).

In partnership with Lifetime, the six women have been selected as Variety‘s Lifetime Impact Honorees for their humanitarian work. Each of the recipients will be featured on a cover of the magazine’s upcoming issue, which hits stands on April 18.

The Power of Women: New York event is tied to the annual New York Women’s Impact Report, which profiles women who made a significant impact in entertainment and media in the past year.

“In its fourth year, we are thrilled to be honoring these outstanding women at our annual Power of Women: New York luncheon,” said Michelle Sobrino Stearns, Group Publisher/Chief Revenue Officer of Variety. “At the heart of New York City is a vibrant community of strong women in entertainment, media, and politics whose commitment to philanthropy is inspirational. We are delighted to be celebrating these women along with the women profiled in our annual New York Women’s Impact List with our partners at Lifetime.”

Academy Award-nominated actress Chastain is being recognized for her commitment to Planned Parenthood, the nation’s leading provider and advocate of high-quality, affordable health care for women, men, and young people.

Clinton, vice chair of the Clinton Foundation, will be honored for her work with Alliance for a Healthier Generation, which empowers kids to develop lifelong healthy habits.

King, editor-at-large of O, The Oprah Magazine and co-host of “CBS This Morning,” is involved with charities the Bowery Mission, which serves hungry and homeless New Yorkers, and SEO Scholars, which helps underserved public high school students get to and through college.

Lively, who stars in the upcoming “All I See Is You,” will be recognized for her work with the Child Rescue Coalition, which tracks pedophiles throughout the world.

Six-time Tony-winning actress McDonald is being honored for her work with Covenant House, which helps homeless youth in 30 cities.

Redstone, vice chair of CBS and Viacom, and and co-founder and managing partner of Advancit Capital, will be honored for her work with Legal Services Corporation, which provides civil legal aid to low-income Americans.

More than 400 entertainment and media insiders are expected to attend the luncheon and cocktail reception. Karma Automotive is sponsoring the Karma Award to King, while Shea Moisture presents the Community Commerce Impact Award.
