When Jessica Alba announced she was leaving her role as chief creative officer of The Honest Company in April, many of her longtime fans were surprised. After all, Alba’s passion project has grown into a multimillion-dollar beauty and baby company over the years.

But, with a quick look at Alba’s upcoming projects, it’s clear that the actress and producer has some big things in mind for her future. Confirming it all to Us Weekly, Alba revealed that her decision to step down allowed her to jump back into the entertainment industry.

“It’s been 12 years, so I think it’s time to get back into entertainment and also think about what else I want to create or do,” she told the outlet.

Coming up for Alba is her first movie in five years, Netflix’s Trigger Warning, coming out on June 21. “It’s an action movie and I executive produced it,” she said. “I’m excited.”

She’s also set to star in the Jevon Whetter-directed movie Flash Before the Bang, which is currently in pre-production, per IMDb.

Trigger Warning is also part of another major project for Alba lately: her recently launched production company, Lady Spitfire. In an interview with Deadline in February, Alba and producer Tracey Nyberg talked about developing the company to work with diverse artists and creators and producing boundary-pushing, content, focusing on female-driven, culturally diverse and Latino-inspired stories.

“I’m thrilled that in this stage of my life and career, I get to create and build, and Lady Spitfire is part of this next chapter,” Alba told the outlet. “Reimagining and redefining how women and minorities show up in the world through great stories is my passion.”

“I believe that my children and the next generation shouldn’t have to face the same barriers as I have,” the mom of three continued. “Inspired by the heroes whose shoulders I humbly stand on, I feel it is my duty to make it easier for dreams to be realized and potential to be met for women and minorities, particularly those in my community.”

Knowing how inspiring those stories will be, we can’t wait to follow Alba’s next steps!
