Jesse Tyler Ferguson Reveals Skin Cancer Scare

There is no punch line here: Jesse Tyler Ferguson is dealing with the “C” word.

The Modern Family star, 40, took to Instagram Tuesday to acknowledge his physician after having a cancerous lesion removed from his cheek.

“Thank you to Dr. Bennett & his entire team for taking the cancer out of my face,” the redhead wrote. “Good luck hiding the stitches tomorrow @modernfamily_makeuphair!” He included the hash tags “#youwannaapieceofme,” “#phantommask,” and “#spf75.”

The accompanying photo showed Ferguson sitting on a chair in a hooded sweatshirt. He had his chin rested on his hand revealing a large bandage on the right side of his face.

Ferguson recently returned to the set of his hit ABC series after some time off to attend his co-star Sofia Vergara’s star-studded wedding in Palm Beach, Florida, followed by a trip to Cuba.

His decision to share his cancer scare on Instagram isn’t new terrain. In 2013, Hugh Jackman posted a photo of his bandaged nose after doctors removed a basal cell carcinoma. He urged fans to get skin cancer checks by their dermatologist and use sunscreen.

Ferguson’s photo should serve as another great reminder to do both of those things.
