New Jersey Woman Accused Of Shooting, Killing Husband On Christmas Night
New Jersey prosecutors claim that a middle-aged woman shot and killed her husband — who had been involved in local politics — on Christmas night.
Township of Hamilton Police responded to reports of an injured man at a home along Somers Point Road in Mays Landing — about 18 miles west of Atlantic City — around 10:20 p.m. on Christmas and found David Wigglesworth, 57, dead from gunshot wounds, the department said in a press release. Officers later arrested his wife, Marylue Wigglesworth, for murder, according to the prosecutor’s office.
Police and the prosecutor’s office haven’t yet shared a motive in the murder, but the prosecutor’s office said there is still an active investigation in the case.
David Wigglesworth served on the planning board of and volunteered for the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City, according to radio station New Jersey 101.5. He ran for township committee in 2019 as Republican, but lost the race.

“Our hearts are heavy with the loss of David Wigglesworth," the Township of Hamilton Republicans posted on Facebook on Tuesday. "He was a dedicated member of the party and worked tirelessly to support many Republican campaigns over the years, including his own. We send our prayers to his son and his extended family.”
The Wigglesworths have one child, an adult son, according to radio station WPG in New Jersey.
David's last posted on his Facebook page before the holidays, adding a picture of a steak cooking in a grill pan with garlic and butter. A Facebook profile apparently belonging to his wife commented underneath, "it melted in your mouth! delish."
