'Jersey Shore' Ronnie Ortiz-Magro pleads not guilty to domestic violence charges

I'm innocent.

That's the claim of Ronnie Ortiz-Magro to the seven charges against him stemming from an Oct. 4 incident in Los Angeles.

Ortiz-Magro pleaded not guilty to domestic violence, child endangerment and more in a Los Angeles court room on Friday, Nov. 8, according to the Associated Press.

The charges arose after police were called to a home he, girlfriend Jen Harley and their 18-month daughter, Ariana Sky, were staying in. He was taken into custody at 3:10 a.m. on Oct. 4, according to police records.

“The suspect and victim were involved in some type of physical altercation. When officers arrived they had to deploy their tasers on the suspect and minor use of force occurred,” said an LAPD spokesman to the USA Today Network New Jersey. “There was a child at that location. That child was unharmed.”

Ortiz-Magro is due back in court on Nov. 12 for a pre-trial hearing.

A felony kidnapping charge was dropped on Oct. 24 by the L.A. County District Attorney, but the case was picked up by the L.A. City Attorney, who also charged him with brandishing a weapon, resisting arrest, making criminal threats and false imprisonment, in addition to domestic violence, child endangerment. The charges are misdemeanors.

It's not the first time Ortiz-Magro is in trouble with the law for alleged violent behavior. He got into a punch up Sept. 4 2009 on the Seaside Heights boardwalk for which he was charged with one count of third-degree assault. He was given pre-trial intervention and the charge was eventually dismissed.

Ortiz-Magro and Harley have a history of domestic altercations and arrests. Harley allegedly threw an ashtray at Ortiz-Magro during a brush up at the Hustler Club in Las Vegas on Dec. 31. He was struck in the face and filed a battery report with the police. Charges were later dropped.

That incident followed one in June of 2018 where Ortiz-Magro was caught in a seat belt outside of a car driven by Harley with their child inside in Las Vegas. He was dragged and suffered a rash and a bruised face. Harley was arrested but the case was “denied due to insufficient evidence,” said the Clark County district attorney at the time.

Ortiz-Magro was pictured at the New Orleans International Airport with his fellow “Jersey Shore Family Vacation” castmates in a Nov. 6 post on Mike Sorrentino's Instagram account. The latest season of "Jersey Shore Family Vacation" concluded on Thursday, Nov. 7. The next season will begin sometime in 2020, according to MTV.

A spokesperson for Ortiz-Magro did not reply to a request for comment as of press time.
