These New Jersey artists won big at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards

The 66th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony on Sunday night was stacked with performances, an iconic celebrity lineup, and obviously the exciting awards, some of which were taken home by two New Jersey natives whose names appeared in numerous categories across the board.

Solána Imani Rowe of Maplewood, more commonly known as SZA, ran the nominations this year as the most nominated woman with nine total nominations.

By the end of the night, she walked away with three wins including:

  • Best R&B Song for "Snooze"

  • Best Progressive R&B Album for "SOS"

  • Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for "Ghost in the Machine" ft. Phoebe Bridgers

The rest of SZA's nominations included:

  • Best Melodic Rap Performance for "Low"

  • Best Traditional R&B Performance for "Love Language"

  • Best R&B Performance for "Kill Bill"

  • Song of the Year for "Kill Bill"

  • Album of the Year for "SOS"

  • Record of the Year for "Kill Bill"

With the completion of this year's ceremony, SZA now has four Grammys and has been nominated 24 times throughout her career.

"I came really far, and I can't believe this is happening, it feels fake," she said as she tearfully accepted her award for Best R&B Song for "Snooze" from presenter Lizzo.

SZA also took on the Grammy stage for a performance of "Snooze" and "Kill Bill," both from her 2022 album "SOS" which became her first No. 1 album of her career and launched her into the spotlight over the last year.

SZA is one of the many women who dominated the show and the industry this year including Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Lana Del Ray, Boygenius and more.

While the women ran the show, Bergenfield native Jack Antonoff also made his mark throughout the night.

Jack Antonoff Grammy Awards

Jack Antonoff of Bergenfield is a producer, singer, songwriter, and all-around musician who took home two Grammys at this year's ceremony.

His wins include:

  • Album of the Year for "Midnights"

  • Producer of the Year, Non-Classical (his third consecutive win in this category)

Antonoff entered the night with four additional nominations including:

  • Record of the Year for "Anti-Hero"

  • Song of the Year for "Anti Hero"

  • Song of the Year for "A&W"

  • Album of the Year for "Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd."

Following this year's ceremony Antonoff has 10 Grammy wins and 24 total nominations throughout his career, which he attributes to his family, his early bands, and his co-worker and friend Taylor Swift.

During his acceptance speech for Producer of the Year Antonoff said, "You need the door kicked open for you. Different people have done that in different points of my life... But to be on the stage Taylor Swift kicked that door open for me... I love you to death Taylor."

He also thanked Lana Del Rey during his speech who he shared multiple nominations with this year.

Grammy Award ceremony highlights

In addition to the New Jersey natives who took the stage, there were a ton of notable highlights from throughout the night including:

  • Taylor Swift won Album of the Year for "Midnights," the first artist to ever win Album of the Year four times

  • Taylor Swift announced her next album entitled "The Tortured Poets Department" which will be released on April 19

  • Miley Cyrus won her first two Grammys for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance of her song "Flowers." She also put on an electric performance of "Flowers" during the ceremony

  • Billy Joel performed his first new song in decades called "Turn The Lights Back On"

  • The "In Memorium" section of the show included performances by numerous artists including Stevie Wonder and Fantasia Barrino and paid tribute to the many people that were lost last year including Clarence Avant, Sinead O'Connor, Tony Bennett, and Tina Turner along with many others

  • Luke Combs performed "Fast Car" with Tracy Chapman

  • Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas performed "What Was I Made For?" which later went on to win Song of the Year

  • Joni Mitchell performed for the first time at The Grammys at 80 years old, singing her song "Both Sides Now"

  • Jay-Z received the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award with 12-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter by his side

  • Celine Dion made a surprise appearance to present the Album of the Year Award
