Jerry Seinfeld's family is by his side for a big milestone in his career!

The 70-year-old actor and comedian is making his feature-film directorial debut with Unfrosted — and for the Netflix comedy's premiere on Tuesday, April 30, he was joined by his wife Jessica Seinfeld and their three kids: sons Julian, 21, and Shepherd, 18, along with daughter Sascha, 23.

Speaking with PEOPLE at the premiere about his approach to directorial duties, Jerry says, "You don't want to think about that this is a really big, important job. Like, the pilot never wants to come on the PA system and go, 'I'm going to try and get this plane in the air.' You have to be confident."

Asked about whether he still likes Pop-Tarts — the breakfast pastry that Unfrosted's plot revolves heavily around — Jerry tells PEOPLE, "I love them," but with one big flavor caveat.

"Brown Sugar Cinnamon is the only one I eat. Since the beginning," he adds of his "purist" Pop-Tart ideology. "I don't like the other flavors, and I really don't like the chocolatey ones or the ones that are s'mores, I hate. I don't like when they overdo it."

Unfrosted is set in 1963 Battle Creek, Mich., when "Kellogg's and Post, sworn cereal rivals, race to create a pastry that will change the face of breakfast forever," according to a synopsis.

Jerry previously told PEOPLE he's "been obsessed with Pop-Tarts my whole life," sparking an interest in bringing this story to the screen.

"My friend Spike Feresten, who was a writer on my show and is still a good friend of mine, thought we should make a movie out of the story, the real story, which we did," he explained.

"There are elements of truth, obviously quite a bit is also fabricated," continued the Seinfeld alum. "I would say 99% is fabricated, which was the fun of it. But I love the idea of serious people working on cereal and with suits and ties and talking about Pop-Tarts and cereal and eating cereal. I've always loved cereal."

Unfrosted boasts a star-studded cast including Jerry plus Melissa McCarthy, Jim GaffiganHugh GrantAmy Schumer, Max Greenfield, Christian Slater, Bill Burr, Dan Levy, James Marsden, Jack McBrayer, Thomas Lennon, Bobby Moynihan, Adrian Martinez, Sarah Cooper and Fred Armisen.

Jerry recently celebrated his 70th birthday. And despite all his success over the years, he told PEOPLE there is still one thing on his bucket list.

“The thing I would like to do more than anything is get up on a surfboard and ride a wave,” he said. “That would be the dream of my life.”

The star added that when it comes to birthdays, he has "no interest" in time. "The future does not interest me," he said. But he does like looking back at his childhood in the 1960s.

"It was a very silly decade. People were silly and colorful and not precious about life like they are now. I grew up on Get SmartI Dream of JeannieLaugh-In. There was no substance to any of this," Jerry told PEOPLE. "I just wanted to be in that fun world."

Unfrosted is streaming on Netflix Friday, May 3.
