NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A group of protesters disrupted the sold out Jerry Seinfeld show at Chrysler Hall in Downtown Norfolk Saturday night, SevenVenues confirmed.

According to a WAVY viewer, a protester began shouting, “Jerry, Jerry” about five minutes after the comedian took the stage. The viewer told 10 On Your Side that Seinfeld later apologized to the audience and said that he would not stop the show.

SevenVenues released the following statement in response to the incident:

We are deeply disappointed that a group of protestors disrupted tonight’s sold out Jerry Seinfeld performance at Chrysler Hall. SevenVenues stands by its policy to remove hecklers and those who disrupt a performance, and will continue to protect the freedom of its patrons to enjoy an artist of their choosing without disruption.

WAVY is looking to confirm what the group was protesting. Check back for updates.
