Jeremy Renner is opening up about how his near-fatal snowplow accident has changed him.

Renner, 52, recently told CNN that he feels "very blessed and very lucky to be upright and walk around and to live life" more than nine months after the incident.

“I’m very, very clear. My life is really lean, if that makes sense," he said. "There’s no fat in my life anymore. I don’t have time for that. So, there’s something really beautiful about having that superpower.”

Amid Renner's ongoing recovery, he has began promoting the liquor brand Sweet Grass Vodka. He is also releasing new music under the title Love and Titanium, inspired by "different milestones in my journey of recovery since Jan 1st this year," as he wrote on Instagram last Thursday.

“I was really clear about how I want to spend my time, and who I want to spend my time with,” Renner told CNN. “This to me feels like family, sort of lifestyle things we talk about all the time. And then we have the spirit itself, it’s much more the shared experience. And that to me is where I want to spend my time.”

Renner told CNN that he feels he has retained "a lot of gifts that I received because of [the Jan. 1 accident]," in which he broke over 30 bones and underwent multiple surgeries after his snowplow ran him over while he was helping his nephew get a stuck vehicle out of the snow on New Year's Day at his property in Reno, Nevada.

“When you’re tested physically, emotionally, spiritually, in every way, and then to come through it, that’s something hard to explain," he said. “Perseverance. Strength. It’s all a mental game. I put it in my back pocket now. I know how to deal with pain. It’s all mind. It’s all in the mind. If you can sift through the fog of it all, I am very blessed.”

Renner was seen walking in public without using a cane for the first time since his accident at Kate Beckinsale's birthday party in July. He was also seen reuniting with some of his Marvel Cinematic Universe costars in Boston for Chris Evans and Alba Baptista's wedding in September.

The actor appeared in the latest season of his Paramount+ series Mayor of Kingstown earlier this year, but otherwise has not acted since he reprised his Marvel role as Hawkeye for the 2021 Disney+ miniseries of the same name. It remains unclear whether Renner will return to the role for future Marvel projects.
