Jeremy Renner is back on the set of Mayor of Kingstown for the first time since his snow plow accident on New Year's Day in 2023.

On Wednesday, the actor confirmed he'd stepped back into his work on the drama by posting a picture of himself looking dapper in a cold-weather coat over a striped button-down shirt accessorized with a grey-and-black tie.

"Day one on set … nervous today," Renner, 52, wrote on Instagram. "Hope this works out that I can ACTUALLY pull this off for our production and more importantly the fans."

At the same time, Paramount+ officially announced production had begun on the forthcoming third season of the series, which "follows the McLusky family, power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan, where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry," per a release.

Just one week prior to making his return, Renner appeared on the Ellen K Morning Show on KOST 103.5 FM, where he joked that his mother Valerie “really wanted to burn this Snowcat” following his accident, but he added that he “understands why” she said that.

“I was like, ‘No mom we’re not, I need that thing to get in and out of the driveway [laughs], or we’re getting get stuck there,’” Renner said. “But we have the power to shift the narrative to shift it into something else.”

He continued, “It’s our job to change the narrative and perspective on this because otherwise we can sit and be victims and suffer and be insufferable and have January 1st be not a day to celebrate or that the snowcat’s a bad thing, but no we need all these things, they’re beautiful things.”

Renner was helping his nephew remove a stuck vehicle from more than three feet of snow at his home in Reno, Nevada, on Jan. 1, 2023, when he was run over by his snow plow. He revealed that he apologized to his family after the incident — where he broke more than 30 bones — because “I couldn’t imagine what I made people feel that morning.”

“The first thing I said was I was sorry when I woke up because I knew what transpired and damn I know what that might feel like on the other side too, that’s pretty harrowing to make someone feel that terror,” he said.

Following the incident, the Hawkeye star was airlifted to the hospital and underwent several surgeries for injuries in following days. He has also been trying various forms of therapy to aid in his recovery.

"There was a lot for me to fight for, and recovery was just a one-way road in my mind,” he said on the radio show. “My recovery became relief for me, because I knew I could give relief to my family, my daughter and all those that I really affected. And my poor nephew, who was there with me on that day, I gave him images that he can never unsee, but I know that my healing would be healing for him."
