The Great Gatsby is making the jump from the page to the stage, and PEOPLE has the first look at the stars in action!

A century after F. Scott Fitzgerald's timeless 1925 novel was published, the Jazz-age tale of mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby and his obsession over his enigmatic former flame Daisy Buchanan is coming to life in a whole new way — this time as a musical with a pop-influenced original score by Jason Howland (Little Women) and Nathan Tysen (Paradise Square).

The show will begin previews at the Broadway Theatre in New York City on March 29 with an official opening set for April 25.

Jeremy Jordan and Eva Noblezada lead the production as Gatsby and Buchanan. The two starred in The Great Gatsby when the musical made its world premiere at the Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey in fall 2023.

They'll be joined on Broadway by Noah J. Ricketts (Nick Carraway), John Zdrojeski (Tom Buchanan), Samantha Pauly (Jordan Baker), Sara Chase (Myrtle Wilson), Eric Anderson (Wolfsheim) and Paul Whitty (George Wilson).

The cast embodied the style and sophistication of The Great Gatsby when they posed for a preview photoshoot at New York City's famed Plaza Hotel. Jordan and Noblezada posed within the historic DuPont-Guest Estate, now known as the New York Institute of Technology de Seversky Mansion, for a series of sultry snaps.

The Long Island locale proved a perfect place for the pictures, which PEOPLE can debut exclusively. The Great Gatsby, after all, is set in the New York destination, where Fitzgerald and his wife once lived.

PEOPLE also caught up with Jordan, 39, and Noblezada, 27, about the show, in an exclusive interview.

The two actors are a pair of Broadway's biggest talents. Jordan has trodden the boards six previous times, including his breakout role as Jack Kelly in 2012's Newsies — a role that earned him a Tony Award nomination for best performance by a leading actor in a musical.

Noblezada has two Tony nominations, one for her Broadway debut as Kim in the 2017 revival of Miss Saigon, and another for 2019's Tony-winning best musical, Hadestown (which also earned her a Grammy).

She was famously discovered and cast in the West End revival of Miss Saigon while performing as a finalist in the 2013 National High School Musical Theatre Awards.

Both have had success on screen as well. Among other credits, he starred in Supergirl and The Last Five Years opposite Anna Kendrick and she, most recently, was the voice of Sam in the animated feature, Luck.

PEOPLE: What excites you most about this production of The Great Gatsby?

JORDAN: The absolute scale of the production is really thrilling. Before you've heard a word, lyric, or note, you're already swept into the world. But more than that, I'd say that I'm excited about the level of talent we have working both behind the scenes and on stage. Really, everyone is at the top of their game and we are all creating something together with egos set aside, aiming to deliver the best possible version of The Great Gatsby.

NOBLEZADA: Doing a new show that’s going full throttle in all its glamour and glory is very exciting to me! This company is also so extraordinary. I’m very grateful to be on this team.

PEOPLE: Your characters are literary icons that most of America knows very well, but this is the first time audiences will hear Jay Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan sing. What effect does that bring to the experience of The Great Gatsby?

JORDAN: After working on this show, I really don't see how you can portray these characters without singing! The stakes of these relationships and the layers of emotions they're concealed beneath all provide a lush landscape to draw from. And musicalizing these kinds of things unlocks a whole new set of tools with which to tell the story. You can get much deeper into the minds and hearts of these characters with song, and there is a whole world of new things to explore there.

NOBLEZADA: Going beyond all the grandeur that the book provides, by adding that element of music, unlocks a new world of magic for this story!

PEOPLE: What’s it been like to work with one another?

JORDAN: We are constantly laughing and joking backstage (and maybe sometimes onstage? Sorry!), we really have fun together. As an artist, Eva has the rawest talent I have seen in a long time. Watching her connect to her body and her character through song is really a masterclass in musical theatre performance.

NOBLEZADA: It’s so wonderful to be working with every superstar in this cast! Jeremy is an extraordinary scene partner and I’m glad we all have so much fun offstage as well!

PEOPLE: What was the audience energy like at Paper Mill Playhouse?

JORDAN: It was incredible. They were with us from the moment they stepped into the theatre, if not before. It really makes a big difference when you don't have to actively win them over, when they show up expecting to love it. The thing I am most proud of, though, is for many of those fans, we far exceeded their already high expectations, which is really something else. Makes you feel like you're doing something right.

NOBLEZADA: Electric!!! The audiences for this show have brought the party, let me tell you! The world premiere run was a time that I — and I’m sure everyone who was a part of it — will never forget. Now we’re all the more excited to get it in front of Broadway audiences!
